It has been a really lovely day here. The ground was still slightly damp from a fantastic thunder storm and steady rainfall yesterday evening and the sun was shining.
We started with chocolate for breakfast. Bunny ears, mostly! Then we went to church. This is the day I really wonder how our Rector manages. There are 5 parishes in her group, and there were services at 9am, 9.30am, 10am, 10.30am and 11.15am. Even with someone else taking a couple of the services, that’s an awful lot. Ours was at 11.15, which is quite good for us as I do like a lie in at the weekend. One thing made this service much better than usual. Seated behind us were people who could, and did, sing. It is quite rare to have that. You often hear people who are singing quite well, but almost under their breath, or the other extreme of singing loudly but not particularly in tune. Today it was great, especially with all the super Easter hymns.
We came home to a lunch of roast turkey (continuing the freezer emptying process). This is one of the few meals that everyone really enjoys, particularly when followed by ice cream! We then put on our genuine Italian moka coffee maker to try out some coffee brought back for us by friends who have just been to Venice. Lovely.
For the perfect afternoon, we had some time sitting on a sun lounger reading, some time clearing the rockery and putting in bedding plants, and some time eating ‘ice cream’ made from (I think) sand and bubble mix. Yum.
