It’s been windy here!
When we first moved here we used to have regular power cuts, reminiscent of my childhood. Back then, at the age of five, I just thought that electricity was inherently unreliable, and everyone always did, and always would, keep a stack of candles and matches handy. At the age of 35, I wondered at the state of an infrastructure that meant we still had to plan for power cuts every time the wind blew a bit fast, and often when it didn’t. Now we do seem to be much more firmly plugged in to the national grid.
However, we do still make sure our battery back-up is charged enough for Mr PC’s broadband access and laptop, so he can do a day of work, even with no supply. Just in case. Perhaps we should invest in a wind turbine.
