OK, so in the past week:
I have finished my etui box up to the glueing together part. I was telling my mum about how I need a glue gun and she said, ‘I’ve got one of those.’ We’re going to visit mum tomorrow.
Mr 5 has hurt himself every day at school. Every day I’ve had to sign a ‘bump to the head’ form or been told he’s been hit with a bat, or (this was the best) was blown over by the wind during PE. Whilst he has been with me he has walked into a stranger, tripped over two curbs and been pulled short before walking into a bollard. I am seriously hopeful that this careless phase will end soon.
Inspired by The Great British Sewing Bee on BBC2, I have made a dress. A ‘Dress with a Fake Smocked Top’ from ‘Yeah I made it myself’ by Eithne Farry, which was just the same as the toddler dress they had to make in the semi-finals, but without the tricky ties. It looks great on Miss 9. With the left over fabric I made a skirt for Miss 11. Just a tube with elastic sewn in the top, but a skirt nonetheless.
Yes, neither of these were on my UFO list but they were started and finished on the same day, so that’s OK!
I found a new favourite meal. Spicy sweetcorn, potato and tomato wraps. To be fair, any recipe that begins with the instruction ‘fry the mustard and cumin seeds’ is a guaranteed win with me. Because I had all the spices in the cupboard, it only cost £3.39 to feed the family that night, and 89p of that could be saved, because it didn’t really need the wraps. Eating it just as a stew would be great.
And the kids didn’t like it. That meant I got to have it for lunch the next day as well. Result!
I lost my camera.
Then I found my camera. In the cupboard above the drawer it is supposed to live in. Then I remembered putting it in there. Why? When it would have taken exactly the same effort to put it in the right place. I have no idea.
We visited Coughton Court and Snowshill Manor. Lovely, both of them.
I have tried to call the leisure centre. I had a call on Sunday telling me that they had a space for one-on-one swimming lessons. I have been trying to call them back all week, but they never seem to answer the phone.
I was walking along and turned my ankle. When I looked at my shoes I realised I’d worn the heels down on my favourite shoes way beyond the point of repair. I guess my shoes just aren’t made for walking.
I have done lots of tapestry. Nearly finished another UFO!
